With it’s white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, there’s no doubt that Miami is one of the hottest (literally!) places to be in the USA. Attracting contemporary artists and party animals alike, there’s something for everyone in the most cultural city of the Sunshine State; so whether you’re an intrepid traveller with a beer budget, or a glamorous fashionista with a penchant for the finer things in life… read on!

Contrary to popular belief, a trip to Miami doesn’t necessarily have to cost the Earth. With a return ticket from most UK airports starting at as little as £350 in low season, and a wide variety of hostels, apartments, villas and hotels available to your disposal - you can save or splurge as much as your heart desires. There are copious amounts of things to do in the Magic City which are absolutely free of charge - you got it, for zilch, zero, nothing - and who doesn’t love something for free?

As host to many of the world’s most rare artwork and artefacts, Miami is a city doused in rich culture, history and architecture. Many museums in the city offer an unforgettable experience with no entry fee - or free admission on selected days. Whether you’re planning a family trip or just exploring for the fun of it, we’ve got you covered. On Miami Dade College’s downtown campus, you’ll find the MDC Museum and Galleries of Art and Design. With more than 15,000 square feet of space, it is one of the most diverse museums in the USA dedicated to visual arts. The museum plays host to a collection of works by both emerging and major artists, alongside free concerts and lectures. Located on W. Flagler Street, HistoryMiami, a cultural institution committed to gathering, preserving and celebrating Miami’s rich and unique history, is free to the public on the second Saturday of each month. The museum offers children and adults alike the opportunity to learn something fresh and fun. Other museums with free entry on selected days include Miami Children’s Museum, Lowe Art Museum and Miami Science Museum.

If it’s a behind the scenes look at some of Miami’s most talented artists painting contemporary murals, sculptors breathing life into clay, or photographers directing a live session - then the Bird Road Art Walk is a must see. This is an opportunity which you can not pass up - with free parking, shuttle services and wine, there’s no excuse! Similiarly, you can enjoy the Gables Gallery Walk which takes place on the first Friday of every month. If it’s a true Cuban experience you’re after, then head down to Viernes Culturales in Little Havana to listen to infectious melodies, buy vibrant artistic pieces and even have a sip of the finest Cuban coffee. If you’re more of a movie buff, then get down to Miami Beach SoundScape Cinema Series, where timeless blockbusters are shown just metres away from the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Park yourself and your family in front of the screen with a picnic, to enjoy a truly unique and heartwarming evening under the stars.

As you will no doubt know, Miami is a city filled with happening nightlife - so why not combine a few cocktails, a chic bar and glorious panoramic views to have the perfect night on the tiles? The Webster in South Beach has a stunning rooftop bar with views over the city, alongside the Mondrian’s Sunset Lounge which also offers breathtaking views of the bay. If the pool’s more your thing, then head down to the Shore Club’s poolside Skybar. Mojitos, city lights and chilling by the pool - what could be better after a hard day at the mall?

If you’re a shopaholic - or simply a window shopper, then there’s plenty of malls. Head down to Bal Harbor for your high fashion brands, or take a stroll around CocoWalk, Bayside Marketplace, Lincoln Road or Ocean Drive for some more unique finds.

And if all else fails - the beach is always a winner. Soak up the sun on Miami’s South Beach and take a dip in the shimmering Atlantic to cool off.
